INOVUES

Inovues - adaptive glazing shields

INOVUES makes existing buildings more energy-efficient and sustainable by retrofitting their facades and windows with the latest energy-saving and smart glass innovations without removal, replacement, or disruption.

Through its non-invasive insulating glass retrofits, INOVUES offers building owners a high-ROI low-carbon solution to save up to 40% on energy consumption, improve occupants’ thermal and acoustic comfort, and increase the value and sustainability of the building.

INOVUES’ patented Glazing Shield™ technology has been installed on buildings in Boston, Seattle, and Los Angeles, but this would be their first northern climate installation. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

In 2021, INOVUES won CapitaLand’s Sustainability X Challenge out of 270+ entries from 25 countries and was also featured by Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy in their 2021 Climate Action Playbook. In 2019, INOVUES won Saint-Gobain’s InNOVAte Challenge and was named to Cleantech Group’s 50-to-Watch List. In 2018, INOVUES won the Cleantech Open National Award and was selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as a finalist in the 76West Clean Energy Competition out of 152 companies.

Innovators Network Partners

INOVUES has been selected by 3 local partners to explore pilot demonstration projects for their non-invasive insulating glass retrofits.

Demonstration Project

Each of the partners will install the INOVUES insulating glass retrofits on the exterior of one of their buildings, with the intention of improving the energy efficiency of that space, as well as the overall comfort for building users.

The installations will be monitored over 12 months to analyze and measure the performance of the product, to verify the energy savings and heating and cooling profile of the interior spaces.

Project installations are slated to begin in Summer 2022.

Technical Innovation

INOVUES’ patented Glazing Shield™ technology made it technically possible – in a scalable and cost-effective way – to transform a glass panel (in place), from the building’s exterior or interior, into a multi-pane insulating glass unit (IGU) – a product typically made in a glass fabrication facility.

INOVUES’ adaptable and glass-agnostic retrofit system offers a platform that provides the means needed to accelerate the adoption of advanced glass and smart windows in existing buildings, like dynamic tinting, transparent PV, and vacuum insulated glass.

INOVUES’ retrofit system meets or exceeds the ASTM and AAMA performance standards for custom window and curtain wall systems for high-rise buildings. The product was successfully tested by leading independent testing labs in the US. The test reports are available on INOVUES’ website under the Resources page.
